Our client is a leading manufacturer of custom electrical transformers. These components are designed for mission-critical applications across a wide range of industries. Operating from its greater Chicago-area facility, the company serves OEM’s requiring highly engineered electrical solutions.
Two years ago, the firm merged with its European counterpart. Now, the firm is connected to a global network of specialized electronic component manufacturers. This partnership has expanded the firm’s capabilities while creating exciting opportunities for continued growth.
Recent increase in market share and large accounts facilitated the need for recruiting a sales manager.
Job Summary
The Sales Manager will be responsible for three main selling components. Mainly, these selling components will include new business development, expanding existing business and ensuring renewals upon contract lapse.
Moreover, the sales manager will oversee complex technical sales opportunities from prospecting through closing. To achieve these goals, the sales manager will collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders.
These interdepartmental relationships include engineering, operations, finance, and supply chain teams to deliver customized customer solutions. This sales management position offers significant career growth.
Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement regional sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives.
- Drive revenue growth while maintaining target gross margins.
- Execute the company’s structured sales methodology from prospecting through contract award.
- Utilize the Go-To-Market process to develop pipeline and expand market opportunities.
Market Development
- Research prospective customers and identify new business opportunities.
- Develop strategic account plans and customer growth strategies.
- Generate qualified leads through cold outreach, virtual meetings, networking, and customer visits.
- Present technical solutions that address customer challenges and business objectives.
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with OEMs, strategic customers, and business partners.
- Serve as the primary contact for contract negotiations and customer escalations.
- Develop tailored commercial solutions that strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through proactive communication and follow-up.
Sales Operations
- Manage quotations, pricing, and margin compliance.
- Maintain accurate CRM data, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
- Follow up on quotations to maximize conversion and order growth.
- Consistently achieve monthly and annual sales objectives.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Track record of meeting sales goals in B2B sales
- Demonstrated success managing complex technical sales cycles.
- Strong business development, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage strategic customer relationships and long sales cycles
- Willingness to travel approximately 30–50% throughout North America.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Requirements
- B2B sales experience within industrial manufacturing or electrical components.
- Experience working within global or multi-site organizations.
- Background selling engineered or highly technical products to OEMs.
