We’re recruiting an NYC-based business manager for Oscar-winning composer.  This job threads the needle between business and administrative support.  The ideal person will be highly adept at dealing with talent, agencies, producers, and other high-end decision-makers within the business side of entertainment.

Moreover, this individual will be ensuring that the client of our New York recruiters has daily business operations running efficiently. Candidates must be very well-poised.  Additionally, they must be able to deal with celebrities and possess problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills.

Responsibilities

The NYC business manager will serve a multitude of purposes.  Essentially, the job responsibilities can be broken into 4 main categories.  These core areas include event oversight, press and publicity, financial and business management.

Show & Event Oversight and Management

• Oversee logistics for premieres, show openings, press junkets, benefits, etc.
• Compile show reports.
• Develop relationships with key theatre and film personnel.
• Manage relations with BMI, Dramatists Guild, and other industry organizations.
• When requested, work with the employer to identify areas of opportunity for collaboration

Press and Publicity

• Coordinate and screen interview requests and appearances in conjunction with the employer’s agency.
• Have advance conversations with various press and publicity contacts to understand what the purpose and goals are of any press appearance.
• Prep notes and materials for the employer in advance of all press events.
• Liaise with stylists and manage wardrobe-related scheduling and fittings.
• Oversee red carpet appearance logistics. This is to be done in conjunction with studios, producers and publicists.
• Coordinate photographers for headshots and photography sessions.
• Manage program content for the employer on all active playbills and journal ads making sure information is up to date and current.

Financial Administration

• Oversee petty cash bank runs and disbursements, ensure petty cash balances and accounts are current.
• Oversee select checking account activities in conjunction with the employer’s business manager.

Legal and Business Management

• Respond to licensing requests and questions in conjunction with the employer’s agent.
• Partner with the employer’s lawyers and agent regarding concert bookings, negotiations and coordination.
• Track deal negotiations and stay in communication with business manager and legal teams.

Qualifications

• Multiyear experience in the entertainment industry,
• Effective multi-tasking, strategic planning, attention to detail and creative thinking.
• A level of comfort and fluency in film/tv/theater
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
